A SPECTACULAR evening of kickboxing at the INF Club, Lurgan by Bulldogs Kickboxing Club drew a full house of very vocal support for all the local fighters.The evening got underway with local girl fighter Corrine Bland taking on a fighter from Dave Broom’s gym, Kim Murphy. Both girls showing off some excellent kickboxing skills, the exhibition fight ended in a draw.
Then there were two young lads both from Bulldogs Kickboxing gym. Paul Murnaghan and Dale Martin went head to head with a full contact fight. Both fighters were told to give it all they had and they certainly didn't disappoint the large crowd. Bulldogs fighter Stevie McAvoy, and fighter of the night, put on a superb performance to win this 3 x 2 minute fight comfortably with pure class showing. There were also fights from Mark Hewitt who lost to his Belfast opponent on a very tight decision, as did Michael Carins who fought a contestant from Derry. Collie McGeown also made a home debut and really showed why his coaches have high hopes for him with a very strong win over his opponent from Cookstown. Fight of the night had to go to the very impressive Sean Montgomery who fought a contestant from Derry who he had teamed up with last month in an All-Ireland team to take on a team from England. Sean and the Derry fighter put on an excellent display of kickboxing which the full house at the INF Club responded to with a very vocal display and the fair outcome of the bout was a draw with both corners being very satisfied. The last fight of the night was the crowd's favourite, Shane Ginesi, and he didn't disappoint them. Right from the first bell Shane showed power and class, wearing his fighter down. He gave the referee no other choice but to jump in and stop the fight in the way of a knockout. This decision nearly took the roof off the INF Club.
