Hi,

 Mnay martial arts like Karate and kung-fu are meant to be used at arms distance from your opponent and their attacks are usually too long to use when you’re right up against someone and having to fight. Almost at wrestling distance, inches between the pair of you.

 So what can you do this close to them? Turn kicks into knee attacks, and punches into short hooks at their exposed areas you can reach - stomach, head, sides etc. Learning some grappling moves or Mai thai kickboxing moves is also good. Mai Thai is all about close up fighting, it’s the form of fighting this martial arts is built around.

If you’re not trained in extreame close quarters fighting, then you’re sole aim should be to break out of any clinch they have you in and get back to arms length fighting that’s mor efluid and involves mobility. Stand on toes, kick shins scrtch and bite do anything to get back to arms length fighting.
